Everything your photographer wishes your bridesmaids would do… Being a bridesmaid is hard work! Of course it’s fun and you are so happy to be included in such a special occasion. However, we know that by the time wedding day gets here, you are so tired of the dress fittings, bachelorette party planning, and showers you could scream! Not to mention all the money you have shelled out for your friend or family member to be in their wedding. So, I get it. You are over it by the time wedding day gets here. But suck it up buttercup and let’s finish this thing out strong. Here are some of my top things I wish bridesmaids would know/do at weddings… #1. IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT YOU!! ( I mean that in the nicest way possible). Yes, what a treat to have your hair and make-up done and relax a little with your mimosa. But, guess what, today is not your day. Get in and get out of the way when you are getting your hair and makeup done. Enjoy the time but also see what you can do to help the bride. #2. YO MOMMA DON”T LIVE HERE!! I have shown up at some bridal suites where it looks like the hangover just happened!! It cuts into photo time if we have to completely clean/organize the room in order to get some clean shots of the bridal party preparation. Pick up your trash and be mindful to not leave everything spread from one side of the room to the other. You don’t see many photos in Vogue with fast food bags in the background. #3 FIND THE BRIDES FLOWERS. I can’t count how many times the bridesmaids sit with nothing to do when they could be locating the flowers and finding the groom’s boutonniere. It is so helpful if somebody takes charge of the little things. A little help goes a long way! #4 LISTEN AND TAKE DIRECTION. Wedding days can be chaotic at best, so make yourself familiar with the bride’s timeline and encourage her and help her stay on time. This can make a huge difference in how the day will go. Listen to where the photographer is telling you to stand and listen to what they are asking. #5 ENJOY THE DAY!!! Dance the night away and enjoy the ceremony and reception with your friend. You earned it.
