Hometown Bride Guide has an amazing directory of wedding professionals for all of your wedding needs in North Alabama and Southern Tennessee. You can find the directory here. The directory includes 52 awesome traditional wedding venues. However, we realize that not everybody is interested in a traditional (large) wedding. What if you just want a small, intimate ceremony with only your closest family and friends. Do you still have to rent a large venue? Of course you can, but that is not your only option! If you are willing to forgo an indoor backup plan, and the other amenities that come with a full service venue, you’re in luck! We put together a great list for our couples looking for a more low-key wedding day. Here are 7 Perfect Locations for a Small Huntsville Wedding.
Wedding Chapel at Green Mountain Nature Trail
This quaint little chapel is perfect for a small, outdoor ceremony. It is just located just a short walk down the nature trail and is so beautiful and serene. The chapel can be reserved for $150. There is even a nearby pavilion that can be reserved for an additional charge. Just a little heads up, the trail is natural and might be tough for strollers, wheel chairs, or people with limited mobility to navigate. More information is available here.
Big Spring Park
Big Spring Park is a well-known Huntsville attraction. It is truly a beautiful area. Most days you can find a number of photographers shooting family photos and engagement sessions. But did you know you can actually have a small wedding ceremony in Big Spring Park? Visit this site for more information.
Huntsville Botanical Garden
Many people don’t realize it, but the absolutely stunning Huntsville Botanical Garden allows small Walk-in Weddings. The gardens are a beautiful setting for an outdoor wedding. The maximum number of guests allowed is 20, and that includes the officiant, photographer, wedding party, and guests. For more information click here.
The Village of Providence Park
I have attended a lovely small ceremony in the large green space at the Village of Providence. I understand that it could not be reserved, but can be used for a small ceremony with the understanding that others are allowed in the space as well. Please call for additional information. This is a great space with multiple restaurants and hotels in walking distance that would be perfect for an intimate reception.
Monte Sano State Park
Monte Sano is home to several of our favorite full service wedding venues. However, if you’re looking for something much smaller you can pay to enter the park and snag a place with a few for a quick, beautiful ceremony. Another alternative is to rent one of the pavilions near the overlook. The pavilions rent for less than $200 and include entrance to the park for attendees. More information is available here.
Sharon Johnston Park Wedding Pavilion
Sharon Johnston Park is located in New Market, about 20 minutes outside of Huntsville. They have a very nice Wedding Pavilion available for $300/day and an additional nearby pavilion with restrooms can be added for $200/day. Additional information available here.
Ditto Landing is a beautiful spot on the Tennessee River. I’ve attended several wedding rehearsal dinners at one of the pavilions, and am always struck by the beauty and serenity of the spot. I only recently discovered that many use Ditto Landing as a ceremony/reception site, and I wasn’t surprised considering that it is such a lovely and convenient location. Pavilion rentals range from $200 to $400. More information is available here.
